On Monday the 3rd October, I had an incredible opportunity to record a new BYOS clip featuring the one and only Harvey Thompson (USA) alongside James Chong from Perth, and John Solli, Chloe Lewis, Kim Woon and Michael Hart from D²Drumline.
Over the past few years, Ralph and Harvey from BYOS have crafted a name for themselves as true innovators in the world of marching percussion. Their combined YouTube channels have had nearly 10m views and they have toured all over the world with German super group SEEED, have performed at Eurovision, presented clinics and masterclasses worldwide and have most recently performed with legends of rock/punk, Blink 182.
This clip went from initial concept to being fully shot in just under 4hrs. Harvey let us know he wanted to shoot it and within two hours we had managed to source lights, cameras, all the drums, and a huge warehouse space to film in. We walked in with no idea about what we were about to play and had to work with Harvey to develop and film the concept then and there.
The whole experience was truly incredible and it is a true honour to be featured in a clip of this kind alongside so many amazing musicians. Check it all out below and be sure to let me know what you think!
